Fireside Chat 4.8.21

Hi thanks for joining us for this week’s Fireside Chat! Where the light of Christ gives us HOPE for tomorrow!

Solomon writes, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.” Today there are many people dying from a lack of hope.
•Broken marriages and homes
•Abuse relationships
•Health issues
•Emotional struggles
•Financial debt

The staff and elders want to invite you this week as we begin a new series entitled This is Us. We feel that God has given us a vision to be a place that will offer a hope that changes us. We want to create a place that offers people a hope that is a confident expectation of the future by knowing Jesus and making Jesus known.

Let’s Laugh:
Look, Charlie," the coach said, "you know the principles of good sportsmanship. You know the Little League doesn't allow temper tantrums, shouting at the umpire, or abusive language."
"Yes sir, I understand."
"Good, Charlie. Now, would you please explain that to your father?"
Hired a handy man and gave him a list. When I got home, only items #1, 3, and 5 were done. Turns out he only does odd jobs.
Apparently RSVP’ing to a wedding invitation “Maybe next time,” isn’t the correct response.

Let’s Ponder:

There is a beautiful place where hope and faith reside, where fear dissipates into thin air, where wounds and resentments loosen their grip; where we can draw a deep breath and feel a nourishing spirit fill our lungs and surge through our veins. You may stumble on this place in a garden or on a subway car; utterly alone, or in the arms of a true companion. This is Grace. It is in this place that the joy of being human is more powerful than anything we have suffered. Come, rest. You are always welcome here. -- Margaret B. Moss

Let’s Pray:

"As a child of God, you ought to expect God to answer your prayers. Do you ask God to do something without adjusting your life to what you are praying? If you are praying for revival, how are you preparing for its coming? If you are praying for forgiveness, are you still living with guilt? If you have asked God to provide for your needs, do you remain worried and anxious? Ask God to increase your faith, and then begin living a life that reflects absolute trust in Him." Henry Blackaby
