Sex

May 31, 2026    Paul Gearhardt

This sermon explores how sex can become an idol when it is placed above God and treated as the ultimate source of fulfillment, identity, or happiness. Using the story of Amnon and Tamar in 2 Samuel 13, the message shows how unchecked lust and obsession lead to destruction, shame, and broken relationships. While culture promotes sex as purely physical and essential for happiness, God designed it as a good gift connected to emotional, spiritual, and covenant love within marriage. The sermon challenges believers to honor God with their bodies, guard their thoughts, and replace the idol of sex with a deeper relationship with Christ, who offers forgiveness, healing, and freedom.
